Start with sciatic glides to begin start in a seated position Slowly extend the leg and point the toes forward when you feel a stretch in the back of the thigh stop there perform 10 repetitions To increase the intensity of the stretch extend the leg and point the toes back towards you You can further intensify the stretch by slouching forward and repeating the steps above remember to not over stretch These can also be performed while laying on your back Hold your leg as shown here and follow the same steps by extending your leg and pointing your toes forward Remember to not over stretch the nerve Point the toes towards you once the leg is fully extended to further intensify the stretch As you progress you can even flex the neck forward and follow the same steps as before Next stretch the piriformis and gluteus muscles begin by laying on your back Cross the painful side leg over the opposite knee and pull your leg towards you hold this for 30 seconds and perform four repetitions To progress this stretch reach through completely and grab just below your knee Next bring your knee towards the opposite shoulder while crossing the leg hold this for 30 seconds and perform four repetitions Pigeon pose can also be used to stretch the SI joint get into the position shown and hold for 30 seconds for 4 repetitions To advance this pose move down unto your elbows Take a look cross ball and place it under the affected hip when that ball is on the tender spot.
