How to de-stress with nutrition coaching


– Hey guys, Robby here from CFSB Nutrition at
Crossfit South Bend. Today, we’re gonna talk
about how a nutrition coach can help you manage your stress. Now, of course, if you’re in a crisis, or really stressed out
you obviously wanna go see the appropriate person, like a therapist, but there are a lot of lifestyle factors that impact your stress, so let’s talk about them. So, diet, it’s super important, getting adequate nutrients, balancing your blood sugar, eating foods that are
delicious but not addictive, eating foods that minimize inflammation, all contribute to making
your stress load less. It’s a stress on the body when you’re not getting
adequate nutrients. It’s a stress on the body
when you’re eating too little. It’s a stress on the body when your blood sugar’s
on a rollercoaster. So, diet is really important
for managing your stress. Sleep. We talk about this all
the time with people. When it comes to proper stress management it’s gonna be really hard
to feel common, at ease, if you’re getting four
hours a night of sleep, or let’s say you’re getting
eight hours a night, but you’re a bartender, and you go to bed from
2:00 AM to 10:00 AM, that’s gonna mess with your
stress response, as well, and it’s gonna lead to more cravings, and binging, and snaking on foods, so sleep is a way that we can help people
manage their stress. Teaching them about proper sleep times, and then helping them
establish that habit, and then, basic stress control, again, if you really
need stress management from a professional, go see a therapist, but things like mindfulness, learning how to breath, and not immediately react to something in your surroundings, or when a craving comes in and says, oh my gosh, I’ve gotta have
that Snickers bar, right now, can you just sit with
it for a couple minutes, and watch it pass like a thunderstorm, or something like that? All of those things are tools that was can provide people with to help them manage their stress, so that they feel more calm, and relaxed, and confident in their life. Alright guys, so hopefully
