EPIC Treatment: A Post-Concussion Syndrome Treatment Program

♪ [music] ♪ Every morning when you come into our office,
you’ll be given your scheduled therapies for the day. ♪ [music] ♪ Cardio class is designed to help warm the
body up and get the blood flowing to prepare the brain and body for scheduled therapies. Neuro occupational therapy is designed to
help patients with visual tracking, peripheral vision, attention, and concentration issues. Dynavision is a technology where you use a
light board to work on your reaction time and visual tracking. Here, we also train your peripheral vision
as well as your multisensory abilities. Brainwaves, or BWE, is a relaxation technique
that also trains your brain. You go into our relaxation room and listen
to brainwaves under a tone of soothing nature sounds. SMT, or sensory-motor training, uses multiple
forms of technology, including right eye and interactive metronome. That gives us another measurement of the patient’s
processing speed and visual tracking abilities, which we continue to practice during this
therapy throughout the week. Neuromuscular therapy has several different
purposes. First, they help relieve any pain through
several different techniques, including massage. A massage also helps increase the flow of
essential nutrients to the brain that help it heal. Neuromuscular therapy also gets your heart
rate up. We do this through interval training that
is done during your cardio class and also one-on-one with your neuromuscular therapist. Other things, such as balance and motor coordination
are also worked on during neuromuscular therapy. In cognitive therapy, we will focus on improving
a patient’s memory, word retrieval, attention, and reasoning skills through a variety of
tasks. Neurosensory Motor Integrator is a new technology
that allows us to work on multiple cognitive abilities, including the patient’s memory,
vision, spatial relations, and language, all with a multisensory approach. ♪ [music] ♪
