(upbeat music) – The way I address patient misconceptions about flu vaccine is
I really just ask them what misconceptions they have? So a lot of times they’ll
say, “Oh, my neighbor got sick “right after receiving the flu vaccine,” or, “Last year I got sick
right after the flu vaccine,” and I really just walk them through how the vaccine works. So usually I talk about how
they might have been exposed to the flu before they got the flu vaccine because it takes two weeks
for antibodies to be built up. So one of the things that we go through is a printout I have from the CDC that talks about misconceptions. I leave it on my desk so
it’s accessible to people when they’re coming in to the appointment, and we walk through each
of those misconceptions that they have.
